WORDS | Work/play

Finding the balance between working and playing is never easy but lately I'm even more struggling with it. The reason why is pretty clear : in a week my finals start so I have to study study study (=work) but actually all I wanna do is party (=play), especially in this holiday period. When I look at this picture, it is pretty clear to me that 'work' prevails 'play'. I don't know whether this is because of the circumstances, that my brain is so focused on working, or that everyone is seeing the same as me?

Time to drink champagne and dance on the table

Today is the day that I'm no longer a teen anymore because I'm turning 20 today! A pretty important birthday if you ask me so it is time to drink champagne and dance on the table!

OUTFIT | Elie Saab dress

Today is Halloween but I really don't like dressing up and having scary make-up on my face etc. But since most people do like Halloween, I want to show you the type of dressing up I do like. I'm more the fairytale type of girl than the scary movies type. So when I was in London in January 2012 (that's why my hair and face look so different) and I saw this dress of Elie Saab in Harrod's, I knew it : I had to try it on! And so I did, playing dress up in January at Harrod's in London, I felt so special. I mean, I was wearing an ELIE SAAB dress, hello how crazy is that for a normal girl like me?! 

Which type are you : the real Halloween or the 'fake' (fairytale) Halloween?

Happy 2nd birthday !

Today, my blog is 2 years and 2 days old. The plan was to write this post on Monday, the actual second birthday of Blonde Butterflies, but I had no one to take photos, didn't have confetti, etc. And now it is time to stop talking about these problems (which aren't real problems) because it's partytime! 

I mean, it's crazy right that I'm already writing posts for the past 2 years. Time flies, it's a cliché that everyone says but it really is! 

Blonde Butterflies has grown over the past 2 years but I didn't reach my goals, this may sound sad/bad but actually I already knew in advance that I wouldn't reach them : I'm such a perfectionist and my goals are always higher than achievable. 

Anyway, I want to thank everybody who supported me, helped me, read my blog, became a follower, ...

DIARY | Communion

Here is a little diary from my sister's feast for her Holy Communion. Some pictures of the location, the chandelier which I absolutely adore and of course photos of  the highlight of the day : cutting off the head of the ice-lamb! 

OUTFIT | Cyan dress

This is my outfit of what I was wearing to the feast of my little sister her Communion. (if you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw this dress already. You can follow me here)

I found it really hard to find a perfect outfit; in my opinion you can't wear a white outfit nor a black one when you're going to a Communion. And since I had 'nothing to wear' I had to go on a dress-hunt. After a while, I found this dress in the gorgeous colour cyan at Zara (it also has a baroque-print but you can't see it very well in the photos). 

It wasn't what I had in my mind but my dress turned out to be pretty popular among the guests. What do you think of this dress? 

P.S. : I actually wanted to wear heels but I didn't think that was a good idea because of all the little children who were at the feast. I could already see myself getting 'attacked' by one of them and fall ... It would be funny for the guests but no thank you ;)

LIFE | Sister love

Two weeks from now, my sister will be doing her First Holy Communion. 

For a 7 year old girl that's a big thing and what does a little one associate with a something big? 

Yes, a celebration with lots of presents. 

Because she isn't "just" family but my little sister who I love with all my heart, I want to give her a special present. So my idea is to print a beautiful, recent photo of us two on a big canvas. 

I wanted the photos to be 'clean' and I also wanted to look like eachother as much as possible so that's why we're both wearing the same leggings (yes, they are exactly the same!) and a white top. Nothing too special because I want to make clear that it's just about us and our special band.

P.S. : she doesn't know that these photos were taking for her present, I told her that I wanted to have some beautiful photos of us to put in my room. So I didn't lie because I will also print some photos for myself! 

Cocktail party

Yesterday night, a friend of mine organised a cocktail party at her place and ofcourse I had to show you my outfit. We were lucky that the weather was nice and hot so we could wear a dress or a skirt. 

I wore a highwaisted blue skirt and a strapless striped top. To have a colourful touch : yellow bag. 

What do you think of my outfit? And especially of my spiked bracelet? 

Mint lace top

In yesterday's post I told you that I was going out yesterday evening so here is what I was wearing. 

Just a pair of jeans with a lace top in one of the colours of this season, mint! 

Although I think it's a beautiful colour, it's no that easy to make a combination with other clothes..
